Business support

On-Demand Business IT Support

£50 per hour

Practical IT and software help for small businesses, without needing an ongoing managed IT contract.

If you have a small team and occasionally need someone experienced to sort out computer, software or Microsoft 365 problems, you can book Ards Tech Fix as and when you need it.

I can work remotely where appropriate or visit your business premises or employees where needed and agreed.

What I can help with

Typical work includes:

  • Windows and application problems
  • Microsoft 365, Outlook and OneDrive
  • Setting up new employees and computers
  • Email and account configuration
  • Multi-factor authentication setup
  • Software installation and configuration
  • Printer and scanner problems
  • File sharing and basic backup configuration
  • General software troubleshooting
  • Departing employee and device tidy-up
  • Small repetitive tasks and workflow improvements
  • Simple spreadsheet, file-processing and automation jobs

If there are several problems to deal with, you can give me a list and I’ll work through them in priority order.

How it works

1. Tell me what needs sorting

Send me a list of the problems, devices or employees that need attention.

2. Agree the time and approach

We’ll agree whether the work is best handled remotely or onsite, which locations are involved, and how much time you’d like to book.

3. I work through the list

I’ll work through the agreed jobs, keep you updated and let you know if anything requires additional work or a different approach.

Pricing

£50 per hour — one-hour minimum. After the first hour, time is charged in 15-minute increments.

Remote work and local onsite visits within the Ards Tech Fix service area are charged at the same hourly rate, with no separate callout fee.

For businesses with several jobs to work through, longer blocks of time can also be booked.

Half day — £200

Up to four hours dedicated to working through your agreed IT and software tasks.

Full day — £375

Up to 7.5 hours dedicated to your business, staff and agreed IT or software tasks.

Additional time beyond a booked block will only be carried out with your agreement and is charged at the standard hourly rate.

Travel and employee locations

The normal Ards Tech Fix service area covers Newtownards, Bangor, Comber and Dundonald. Travel within this area is included.

For work outside the normal service area, mileage is charged at 55p per mile, based on the business journey from Newtownards and back, including travel between locations where applicable.

Any mileage or additional travel costs will be agreed with you before the visit.

Where a booking involves travelling between multiple employee or business locations, the time spent travelling between those locations forms part of the booked support time.

For longer journeys, multiple locations or work involving significant travel time, I may provide a separate travel quote rather than applying the standard mileage rate.

Parking, tolls or other exceptional travel costs may also be charged at cost where applicable and agreed in advance.

Customer and employee availability

Someone familiar with the business systems should be available during the work where required.

Employees may also need to be available to enter passwords, approve sign-in requests or complete multi-factor authentication.

For security, I won’t normally ask employees to give me their passwords. Where login details are needed, they should enter them themselves.

Authorising work

The business owner or a nominated contact should authorise work and act as the main point of contact.

Employees can work with me directly during a support session, but additional work should be approved by the nominated business contact.

This is not a managed IT contract

This service is intended for businesses that need occasional practical help rather than ongoing outsourced IT management.

It does not include:

  • 24/7 support
  • Guaranteed response times
  • Continuous monitoring
  • Unlimited employee support
  • Server administration
  • Managed cybersecurity services
  • Network infrastructure management
  • Helpdesk or ticketing services
  • Ongoing account or device management unless separately agreed
  • Hardware, software, licence or subscription costs

If your requirements go beyond ad-hoc support, I’ll explain what would be involved before taking on additional work.

Larger software and automation work

If I uncover a repetitive process, awkward spreadsheet workflow or other problem that would benefit from a small software solution, I can quote for that separately.
